No matter who you are, what you do, where are you from, This GREAT POWER didn’t really care, What HE knows, HE JUST HAVE TO ACCOMPANY YOU WHEREVER YOU WILL GO, he is so LOYAL to you, he will never let you go…. do you notice that ?I was talking to a friend yesterday, as usual she is the best advisor i can have, she said something interesting yesterday“i always believe that inside everyone of us, we have this GREAT TALENT that we never really know that it is existed inside us, if we just BELIEVE that we have that power, if we just BELIEVE that powerful JEDI you talked about, you let HIM fight for YOU, you will realize that YOU can do almost EVERYTHING that you want”

Betapa mudahnya membuat teman, itu yang muncul di kepala saya saat itu, kedekatan emosional tentang satu hal begitu mudah terbangun, tanpa perlu proses yang terlalu cepat, mungkin mirip buku “blink” nya Malcolm Cadwell, akhirnya kita berdiskusi hampir selama 5 jam, most of them is about life.
Malam itu setengah ngantuk, seseorang menyapa :”nice pic bro”
“thanks man”
“i was reading your article dude, it was really usefull, i mean that is the simple basic thing of your daily life, but it is really important, at the end it is all about communication”
“i am talking with philosoph here:D”
“hahaha no, just an opinion”
“when you communicate you are facing these 3 layers of Human : 1. ego, 2. logic, 3 emotion, ok ?”
“that is correct, i always believe that all human are unique, their surroundings and their past made who they are today, just like behaviourism theory”
“well, ego is unique, logic will be depend on your education background, but emotion is the SAME, it is your BIRTH GIFT, the unique is how to trigger human’s emotion”

Semua ada waktunya…

Hari ini Iedul Adha, dua hari yang lalu saya baru saja pulang dari Yerseke, yang tidak tau Yerseke itu nama semacam “kabupaten” di Belanda sekitar 40 menit perjalanan dari Roterdam, untuk apa saya ke Yerseke ? setelah melalui 3 kali proses seleksi memperoleh beasiswa penelitian, saya berhasil lolos seleksi kandidat dua besar dan interview terakhir harus saya lakukan di Yerseke (berarti seleksi tahap empat damn), berapa lama prosesnya ? 2 Jam interview dan 2 jam persentasi, WHAT A LONG RUN !!!

Seorang mahasiswa doktor di Jerman pernah bilang,
“sulit banget prosesnya hanya untuk satu posisi doktor ?”

saya bilang ” ya mungkin karena nilai beasiswanya dan lamanya proyek, tapi bersyukur yang penting sekarang tinggal proses akhir saja”

Sambil menggigit sisa ayam kemarin malam saya mulai login ke email dan meneliti satu persatu email yang masuk, tiba tiba jantung saya berdebar kencang dan sorot mata menuju ke satu email dengan judul “offering PhD position”, dengan penuh harapan saya membuka email dan tertulis seperti ini :

- You will become specialized in one particular research area, so that your choice has long-term consequences for your career.

- The research topic of this PhD is highly important for the Indonesian scientific community, and it is expected that you will use the knowledge that you acquire to the benefit of the Indonesian community.

- Doing a PhD is very hard work. You have still much to learn about physics, about doing experimental research, about ecology, about independent thinking and taking initiatives (searching for new creative solutions that you have never read about), about presenting results in oral presentations and papers, etc. The fieldwork will be more demanding than what you did as a master student.

- The thesis should consist of 5 papers published in international peer reviewed scientific journals

Nothing useless

Saya menikmati pekerjaan saya di lab Geologi, pekerjaan yang dilakukan tidak terlalu menyulitkan, analisa butiran sedimen dan pengecekan kandungan foraminifera, Apa itu foraminifera ? foraminifera adalah semacam amoeba yang sangat kecil sehingga untuk mengeceknya harus dilakukan melalui mikroskop elektron, kegunaannya untuk menentukan kandungan isotop sehingga kemudian bisa dikalibrasikan untuk mengetahui tingkat kadar garam dan temperature, AMAZING right ?Disela kesibukan saya mendeteksi Foram di lab, sel-sel otak saya jadi terketuk, “Betapa tidak pernah ada sesuatu yang sia-sia !!!” sekilas kita tidak akan sadar bahwa makhluk teramat kecil ini ternyata memiliki kontribusi sangat besar sebenernya dalam kehidupan keseharian kita, Tiba-tiba saya menjadi begitu terhenyak ketika saya sadar bahwa Tuhan telah dengan sangat cermat merancang segala sesuatunya, ternyata tidak ada satu pun yang tercipta dengan sia sia…ternyata segala sesuatu memiliki maknanya masing masing…tugasnya masing masing…bahkan bukan hanya segala sesuatu…tapi segala persitiwa…ya segalanya…Pernah kah kita merasa bahwa kita sedang melakukan pekerjaan yang sia-sia ? pernahkah kita merasa bahwa peran kita begitu kecil sehingga kita kadang minder, tidak percaya diri dan bahkan tidak jarang merasa malu dengan keberadaan kita ? SAYA PERNAH !!! bukan hanya sekali bahkan puluhan kali…

Saya sering kali bertanya kepada diri saya sendiri, “what the hell am i doing here ?”, “this is useless, it will never gonna work, i will only fail again”, “quit dreaming, leave it and move on…” have you ever heard that voice inside your head ? once again I DO…and i heard it so many times…
